I’ve implemented several of the tips here, in addition to using MT-Blacklist to provide a quick and dirty filter. Haven’t had blog spam since – and the one comment I’ve received that was questionable (i.e. it said nothing meaningful, was not a person I recognized, and was probably meant to test posting mechanisms) was easy to delete.

Also, Better living through regular expressions [diveintomark.org] has some nice tips on using MTMacro to automatically substitute common words in your posts. I’m using it to auto-link to Slashdot, Ditherati, Groklaw, etc.
